leave the light on Charles

So, I think I've fallen in love with Disney's Boardwalk. We're due to check out any minute now and I'm feeling nostalgic. Here's a pic of Boardwalk from the other side of the lake, taken on our morning walk.

donald's brother charles

And while on the patio, I was approached by this charming fellow. He was handsome, but not as handsome as a certain dachshund I know.

And here's what EPCOT's fireworks looked like from my patio. To the left, you'll notice Spaceship Earth.

sitting in my hotel room

I'm in Florida visiting my folks, which means there is an obligatory trip to WDW. Tonight, my folks got us a suite at the Boardwalk resort and made a point to get a room facing the boardwalk itself. I'm there now, and it's beautiful. This is what the view from my bed looked like a couple hours ago. On the right side is the Disney Vacation Club sign where the nice guy from Erie, PA works and offered to let us use as a shortcut coming in and out of the building.

the good life and the good boy

I've been in Florida the past 24 hours, and it's been wonderful. We spent the day hanging out at my folks' place, being lazy. The highlight of the day was a cookout with some good friends who are in town from England. I get to see them even less than I see my folks, so it was a real treat, all around. Now I'm about to retire with some Carson McCullers. And, for no reason other than I miss him, here's a picture of my guy taken during our walk last night, right before I took off to the airport.

here come the flowers

Fresh from our walk, Nicky and I were greeted with a cheerful "good morning" from a couple friendly daffodils. Oh, spring.

and one for all

Group photo, shortly after arriving in EL. These shoes walked all over East Lansing. Mia and I matched.

a good friday

By special request of a very wonderful young lady from California, we got up early this morning and went to Michigan State University. Since it's my alma mater and hometown, I played tour guide. We started out at the 4H Children's Garden, worked our way to the butterfly house, had lunch at El Azteco, and finished up at the Student Bookstore for MSU gear. It was my first time back on campus in a few years and was an excellent homecoming made all the sweeter by introducing some of my favorite people to one of my favorite places. What a way to usher in spring.

Nicky's got it.

the blues go green

This is what I saw, driving into work this morning. The Final Four are happening a few blocks away, so to celebrate, my place of employment lit up the building with my alma mater's logo. Nice! I was so proud driving into work this morning.

it is remarkable that a creature could be that dear in every way

Nicky is a sweet, sweet heart. He needed an impromptu bath after our afternoon walk, and though he loathes baths and was not enjoying this one, he knew it was due, and put up with it. He spent ten minutes or so after his bath just rolling around the rugs, shaking his fur, and kicking his legs trying to get dry. When he was done, he posed for me. Aww.

to be loved by the one you love most

Today while I was at work, somebody borrowed my slipper and took it to his bed. Somebody's named Nick. He's welcome to steal my slippers anyday.
