pooch parade
Went to the dog show today, and as we were crossing the arena, the longhaired dachshunds were lining up for their chance to shine. What a bunch of cuties!

donald's brother charles
And while on the patio, I was approached by this charming fellow. He was handsome, but not as handsome as a certain dachshund I know.

september and seals
I know it can be cliche, but I very sincerely can't believe it's September. I didn't have a summer, though it seems to have had me. But I'm not complaining. It was a wonderful few months. I love this time of year, as the world transitions toward autumn. Last year I kicked off September by visiting my folks; this year it was a trip to the zoo.

sometimes nick looks like a little bunny
This isn't Nick. But sometimes Nick resembles a bunny. I'm at EPCOT with my folks, walking around the World Showcase, and we stumbled upon this cute little guy. He wasn't even phased by our presence. He was having too much fun eating grass. He is a cool guy.

lesson from the wild
The bird feeder in the backyard seems to be quite popular with all sorts of species, yet this was the first time I'd ever seen birds, a squirrel, and a chipmunk all hanging out together, feasting. It was a beautiful sight. See? Peace beyond barriers is possible. At least it is at Chez Love.

snow white's backyard pt. 2
At another point in the day, Nat's mom's next door neighbor dropped by with a baby turtle she found in her yard. Here s/he is walking in Nevada's hands.
snow white's backyard pt. 1
My writing group had a retreat today at Nat's mom's house in Chesterfield Township. The house is one of those fairytale style places set right on the river and surrounded by fields and beautiful gardens. Nat told us it was actually Snow White's home. Either way, this swan kept visiting, asking for food. He got bread.
